Clarity
Make complex choices understandable before asking anyone to act.
About the firm
The Phipps Company is being shaped around a simple premise: owners deserve a clear, grounded process when the business they built reaches a turning point.
Our perspective
That dual reality calls for advice that is analytical without becoming mechanical, candid without becoming impersonal, and measured without losing momentum.
We begin with the owner’s objectives, surface the decisions that matter most, and build a process around the real circumstances of the business—not a generic transaction playbook.

How we work
Make complex choices understandable before asking anyone to act.
Treat the owner’s goals, time, and reputation with appropriate care.
Keep the process grounded in evidence, readiness, and deliberate execution.
Leadership
Managing Partner | The Phipps Company
Lori Jordan is Managing Partner of The Phipps Company, bringing more than 25 years of experience in corporate strategy, finance, operations, entrepreneurship, and transactions to help business owners navigate some of the most consequential decisions of their professional lives—whether preparing for a sale or succession, acquiring a business to accelerate growth, or evaluating the strategic alternatives that will shape the company's next chapter.
Lori brings a distinctly owner-centered perspective to transactions. As an entrepreneur, she launched, built, and successfully sold her own technology company. Today, she and her husband own and operate a funeral home. She understands firsthand that a family business represents far more than financial value—it can embody decades of sacrifice, relationships, reputation, and family legacy.
That understanding has given Lori a particular passion for helping owners of generational, family-owned businesses thoughtfully convert decades of commitment to excellence into cash that can carry the family legacy forward—funding new businesses, investments, philanthropy, and opportunities for generations to come. She is equally passionate about helping the next generation of owners build enduring businesses, including through strategic acquisitions that expand capabilities, open new markets, create scale, and strengthen long-term enterprise value.
Lori's transaction experience is unusually broad, shaped by having sat at virtually every seat around the deal table—as an entrepreneur, Fortune 500 corporate acquirer, middle-market transaction advisor, private equity investor, and traditional lender. As a founding member of The McLean Group, a middle-market investment banking firm and broker-dealer, she helped build the firm while advising companies on strategic and financial transactions. Her broader career has included senior leadership roles with Foundation Partners Group, Amazon, Microsoft, The Washington Post Company, Network Solutions/Verisign, and Travelport, where she has been responsible for businesses and strategic initiatives spanning multi-site operations, acquisitions, corporate development, complex negotiations, strategic partnerships, and new-business creation. Across these experiences, Lori has consistently worked at the intersection of strategy, finance, and execution—building businesses, pursuing growth, and translating strategic opportunity into measurable enterprise value.
CPA-eligible, with deep experience in corporate finance and financial analysis, Lori brings financial rigor to the strategic and human dimensions of a transaction. Together, her experiences give her a rare perspective on what makes transactions successful: how sophisticated buyers identify and evaluate opportunities, how owners can strengthen and position their businesses to realize greater value, and how both sides can structure a transaction that accomplishes more than simply getting a deal done.
Lori earned her MBA from Harvard Business School, a B.S. in Economics and Biomedical Engineering from Duke University, and completed an accounting concentration at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. At The Phipps Company, she combines the empathy of a fellow owner with the financial and strategic discipline of an experienced transaction executive—helping clients acquire what can propel them forward, realize the value of what they have built, and transform today's business decisions into opportunity for the next generation.
